Case Study

A leading manufacturing company based in Dubai, with over 1,000 employees across multiple facilities, sought to modernise its enterprise systems to support expansion and streamline operations.

The business faced inefficiencies from legacy systems, fragmented data, and inconsistent processes that impeded growth and decision-making. The company partnered with Great Minds Consulting to lead a full-scale ERP transformation using Microsoft Dynamics.

The Challenge

The existing ERP system was over a decade old and heavily customised, resulting in brittle workflows and poor integration across departments. Key issues included:

  • Limited visibility into inventory, procurement, and production planning
  • Delayed financial reporting and revenue recognition
  • Manual workarounds for critical processes such as quality control and supplier management
  • Lack of a unified data model across finance, operations, and HR

Additionally, previous attempts at documenting processes and mapping workflows had been incomplete, leading to training challenges and a lack of standardisation.

Our Solution

Great Minds Consulting led the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, delivering a comprehensive solution across five key workstreams:

1. Platform Replacement

We replaced the legacy ERP with Microsoft Dynamics, creating a unified, cloud-based system covering finance, supply chain, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, HR, and reporting.

2. Business Process Design & Improvement

Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, we ran more than 40 process discovery and design workshops. We simplified and standardised over 120 business processes, introducing best practices in production scheduling, MRP, demand forecasting, and procurement automation.

3. Process Documentation

Our team developed a complete process documentation library covering workflows, business rules, roles and responsibilities, exception handling, and system interactions. These assets formed the foundation for change management, user training, and audit compliance.

4. Data Migration

We executed a multi-phase data migration strategy involving master data cleansing, deduplication, transformation logic, and validation routines. Over 2 million records were migrated from multiple systems with zero downtime during cutover.

5. Business Insights

We integrated Microsoft Power BI with Dynamics to deliver real-time dashboards for operations, finance, and sales. KPIs such as inventory turnover, order fulfilment rate, and working capital are now available on demand, improving agility and accountability at all levels of the business.

The Results

  • 30% faster monthly close cycle
  • 20% improvement in on-time delivery
  • Unified reporting across 8 departments
  • Reduced manual processes by 60%
  • Clear audit trails and standard operating procedures across all major workflows

The implementation positioned the company to scale regionally, with a foundation of standardised operations, integrated data, and advanced analytics. Microsoft Dynamics now serves as the digital backbone of the business.
