UiPath for processes that span systems, documents and people
UiPath is an automation platform best known for robotic process automation (RPA): software robots that work through applications the way a person does, including older systems with no usable API. Around the robots it provides Studio for building automations, Orchestrator for scheduling and managing them, Document Understanding for reading invoices, forms and other documents, and agentic features: agents built in UiPath's Agent Builder and UiPath Maestro, which UiPath made generally available in April 2025 to orchestrate robots, agents and people in one process. You can run it as UiPath Automation Cloud or self-host Automation Suite.
Great Minds is a Sydney-based systems integrator with delivery experience on UiPath. We use it where it's the right tool: high-volume work that runs through user interfaces, document-heavy processes in finance, HR and operations, and processes where an AI agent should handle the judgement step while robots do the clicking. Where systems have good APIs, we often recommend an API integration or a workflow platform such as n8n instead, and we'll say so.
Because we also implement CRM, ERP and service management platforms, we design automations with the systems around them: requests raised in Jira Service Management, exceptions routed to people with the right context, and results written back to Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365.

How we deliver
A UiPath program, from process assessment to run
We map candidate processes with their volume, systems, exceptions and owners, and score them for value and risk. You get a shortlist, a recommended approach for each, and a price.
Process design with the business owner: the steps robots take, where an agent decides, where a person approves, and how exceptions are handled. We agree it before anything is built.
Automations and agents built, tested against real cases and edge cases, and reviewed. AI agents help with repetitive build and test work; our consultants own the design and sign off every change.
Go-live with monitoring and alerting, support during hypercare, and regular reviews of exceptions and benefits. We can run the platform with you, or hand over to your centre of excellence.
Australian considerations
What Australian organisations need to check
UiPath Automation Cloud can be hosted in an Australian region, but availability differs by service, so check each service you plan to use. AI features add a second question: when a model isn't available in your region, UiPath routes the model processing to a region where it is, often the United States for Australian tenants. UiPath's AI Trust Layer policies can restrict which regions models may use. Confirm this before personal information reaches an agent, because APP 8 of the Privacy Act covers overseas disclosure.
Robots usually log in to systems with privileged service accounts. Store credentials in a vault, give each robot the least access it needs, and log what it does; APRA-regulated entities will need that evidence for CPS 234, and a business-critical automation platform should be in scope for CPS 230.
If an automation or agent makes or substantially helps make decisions that significantly affect people, such as approving claims, refunds or payment terms, the Privacy Act's automated-decision transparency rules apply from 10 December 2026, even if a person approves the final step. UiPath questions
What is the difference between RPA and agentic automation?
RPA robots follow fixed steps through applications: they're fast and consistent, but stop when something unexpected happens. AI agents interpret context and decide what to do next. Agentic automation combines them: agents handle the judgement, robots do repetitive steps, and people approve what matters.
Is UiPath the right tool, or should we use APIs or n8n?
Use APIs or a workflow platform when the systems involved have good APIs; it's usually cheaper to run and less fragile. UiPath earns its place where you have to work through user interfaces, legacy or third-party systems without APIs, or large volumes of documents. Many organisations use both.
Can UiPath read our invoices and forms?
Yes. UiPath Document Understanding classifies documents and extracts fields, and we add validation rules and a review step for low-confidence results. Accuracy depends on how varied your documents are, so we test with a sample of your real documents before committing to a design.
Can UiPath keep our data in Australia?
Automation Cloud offers an Australian region, but not every service or AI model is available there, and some AI processing is routed overseas. Self-hosted Automation Suite keeps the platform in your own environment. We map each service and model against your data residency requirements in the design.

How long does a first UiPath automation take?
